ABOUT US

Who is Brightside American Bulldogs?
B.A.B’s. is a small family orientated kennel owned by us Steve and Ellie Owen
and our 4 children, Jordan, Catherine, Ashleigh and Kane.
We are based in the North of England in the city of Sheffield.
We first started in this breed back in 2000
and without our eyes wide open but liking the breed.
So much has happened to us since then and the dogs
we have now are a HUGE part of our lives.
Since starting out some years ago now, we have achieved so much,
we own one of the first female N.K.C. Bully Champions in the UK

and another NKC Bully Champion Male.

We also own 2 of the first ever A.B’s to earn a weight pull title here in the U.K
with a worldwide recognised organisation, the A.P.A.
We have gone on to become the first ever sanctioned
weight pull judges in the U.K. for the A.P.A
and along the way we have accomplished all of this while raising our children.
Family is important to us as it is too many of you, and we have been
fortunate to have our family extended to America.
Because of this breed we have new family now,
Mark, Lisa and Eli Landers and Steve and Cindy Lewis.
A lot of our achievements with respect to the weight pull
and training of our dogs is down  to our extended family
and we will always thank god that we had the chance to meet them.
We are the proud owners of some of the nicest American Bulldogs here in the U.K
and we have also added to the gene pool more imported bloodlines
from the fantastic breeds birth land of the U.S.A.
We currently own 4 AB’s who’s pages can be found on site,
we also have another female over in the U.S.A, who will come to us in 2006
under the PET’s scheme and fully weight trained all thanks to Lewis American Bulldogs.
What attracted us to this breed is NOT the ‘fashion’ status that attracts
many unwanted owners, but the diversity that the breed has to offer,
the way they can work their bodies so hard but always have more to give
and the way they can just switch off and live the life
of any other breed of dog within a family unit.
The love and loyalty they have to offer is outstanding while
still been a natural protector to their respective families.
Unlike some owner/breeders we appreciate what the 2 types of AB’s have to offer
and although our current dogs are Bully type there are some
exceptional standard lines to be found here in the U.K
and we would never rule out owing another Standard type AB.
We are always open minded which is a must within the breed and
will contribute to discussions held in regards to the AB’s.
We are fully supportive of our fellow bulldoggers and attend
all the sanctioned show’s here in the U.K.
We are hoping to start traveling over into Europe
and we look forward to competing over there
in both the conformation and working events in the very near future.
As well as this we will continue to travel over to the States
and hope at some point to travel there with our dogs.
What we are hoping to achieve from our dogs is to produce
AB’s that are not only to ‘type’ (standard) but that are sound in temperament,
Health, structure, conformation and with a kick ass working ability,
who when placed with new owners will prove the diversity the breed has to offer,
we will always offer support and advise to the people and families
taking on an American Bulldog for the first time, and will always be
as open and as honest as possible in regards to any issues with the breed.
Our aims will continue to provide quality AB’s, we are always open to criticism,
negative or positive and if we feel we can change or
improve in any way then this is what we will strive for.
At the beginning of 2005 we established the N.P.A.B.C
(Northern Players American Bulldog Club)
we began hosting conformation show’s in association with the A.B.A
this is something we will continue to do while ever the demand is there.
This is also the same club that introduced competitive weight pulling
in association with the A.P.A.
again this is something that we will continue to do,
however this is a sport not only for American Bulldogs but for ALL breeds of dog.
Our work with this sport will continue regardless of our chosen breed,
and we will support, encourage and advise anyone starting out with the sport.
If you feel you need to know anymore about us please do not hesitate to contact us
either via e-mail or telephone or if close enough by us,

people are always welcome to drop by.
